What is blood glucose?

Glucose is a simple sugar and your body's primary fuel source. Insulin is a hormone made by the pancreas.   • Post-meal (postprandial) glucose is measured after eating, when glucose from a meal is entering the bloodstream and insulin is actively working to bring levels back down. Both numbers matter, and they answer different questions — a normal fasting number doesn't automatically mean post-meal spikes are well-controlled, and vice versa.
